Writing Scoop: Inspiration From Poetry & Art

Education can encompass the arts and inspire learning through the lens of aesthetics.

On December 6, 1886 Joyce Kilmer was born.  A poet, Kilmer wrote a poem that is perhaps the most quoted American verse: "Trees."  Although Kilmer lived only 31 years, his impact was enormous, illustrating that a single work may significantly add to civilization: a poem.  Your actions may not be as recognized as Kilmer's writing is; however, try in life to be productive and to make a difference.  A small action may reach many lives.

Michelangelo leaves a legacy that has tremendous influence on people of all walks of life.  The master's art is not exclusively relegated to the art world but extends into every corner of the human spirit.  His words about striving for excellence and beyond greatness are inspirational.  Set your sights on a high bar and not on the mediocre that is easily attainable.  Seek perfection and you may reach far loftier heights than you imagined.

A boon to each person is education + creativity.  Embrace them!
